A member of the Canadian Writers’ Union, former juror for the Drainie-Taylor Prize in biography and memoir, Belfast-born J.S. Porter is in the Canadian Who’s Who (U of T Press, 2007). He is the author of Spirit Book Word: An Inquiry into Literature and Spirituality (2001), The Thomas Merton Poems (1988) and Thomas Merton: Hermit at the Heart of Things scheduled for publication in April, 2008. He presently writes for The Globe and Mail, the Literary Review of Canada and the poetry journal Hammered Out.
