HA&L Biographical Sketch for contributor Jim Chambers

Jim Chambers has been a commercial photographer and photo-based artist for over 35 years. Upon receiving his Fine Arts Degree from McMaster University, he embarked on a career as a free-lance cinematographer.

Jim has worked as staff photographer for the Royal Ontario Museum; Head Photographer for the Art Gallery of Ontario, and for over 25 years has run his own free-lance business. Since 1987 Chambers has been a Professor in the Creative Photography department at Humber College. Jim is past coordinator of the Creative Photography department, the Advanced Photographic Techniques, and Continuing Education programs. He is presently a professor in the Image Arts Program at the University of Guelph-Humber. His commercial work includes advertising, editorial, and the photography of works of art.

Chambers has exhibited and published his personal work in Canada, the United States and abroad for many years. Presently Jim owns and operates the James North Studio Gallery with his partner Colleen O’Reilly-Lafferty. Now enjoy his magnificent photographs as they accompany An Introduction to the Sculpture of George Wallace.
